Another Day, Another Challenge
In 1987, when most physicians had never heard of Williams syndrome, my little three-year-old was diagnosed by a specialist. Although she escaped from having the heart and blood vessel problems, she had a lot of other difficulties.
As she grew, I heard about all the wonderful aspects of the syndrome. Yet, when I attended Williams syndrome activities, I discovered that I had little in common with these parents.
And while “Another Day, Another Challenge” mentions most of the distinguishing characteristics of the syndrome, it details the unusual and difficult situations that our family faced as Michelle led us through social dilemmas, psychiatric challenges, and obsessions galore; obsessions that brought the police, fire department, and ambulance to our front door on many occasions.
The book deals with the unique challenges of a special needs child who was falling through the cracks of every service designed to support her needs. It clearly shows where the system failed and how one caring and conscientious psychiatrist improved the situation. It also gives insight as to what was going on behind the scenes in the home.
If you work with those who have special needs, this is a book you should read.
“This book is for anyone who has had to face the task of attempting to manage an unmanageable situation. This family’s strength could only have come from one source: the Lord Jesus Christ.” – Marilyn Pappas, Firefighter
If you are a parent facing incredible challenges with your child, and you are looking for help, guidance, and answers from God, this is a book you should read.
Informative and educational, “Another Day, Another Challenge” is a must-read for special education teachers, EMS personnel, pediatricians, professionals in the mental health field, and for Christian parents who are struggling to find God’s purpose in all their challenges.
