As some of you may know, I’ve been on vacation. When I go on vacation, I try not to take a vacation from writing My Blog or The Lord’s Page. I attempt to keep up with it everywhere I go. But this time, things got a little overwhelming and I had to take a break.
We left Cincinnati on June 14th headed to Kansas. I posted on my website that weekend. The following weekend, we were in Arizona, and I posted that weekend. (I did a lot of writing while my husband was driving.) While I was in Arizona, a friend emailed me her school paper. I edited it for her, polished it up, and emailed it back to her. When we left Flagstaff (the Grand Canyon was awesome, by the way), I once again wrote while my husband drove, and I posted the next weekend in New Mexico, where we detoured to visit Carlsbad Caverns.
However, the week of our return trip seemed quite a bit more hectic. Between visiting family in Texas and fourth of July activities in Kansas, getting up early, staying up late, and not sleeping well that last week, I was too tired on our drive home to write. We pulled into the driveway on Friday, July 5th, two days before Vacation Bible School started.
I spent all day on Saturday preparing for VBS – figuring out how to decorate the classroom, going shopping for what we needed, reviewing and preparing my lessons. I didn’t have the time or the energy to write. VBS started Sunday night and ran through the week until Friday night. Everyday I was busy preparing for VBS.
My friend, Lauren, had another paper she needed help on, and it was a doozy. My friend, Mary, who is currently staying with us, had two doctors appointments that week. (Mary doesn’t drive.) So on Monday, I took her down to Kentucky, and on Thursday, I drove her into downtown Cincinnati. Both were specialty appointments, so I was gone half the day on both days. And the lawn dreadfully needed mowed. (That took me a good two hours.)
And to make matters worse, Floyd handed me a card from the court system that came in the mail while we were gone. It said that our guardianship report was overdue and we had to have it to them by the end of July. I thought that report wasn’t due until October.
I definitely had more to do than I had time to do it. So I had to prioritize, and unpacking wasn’t at the top of my priority list. I don’t think I even unpacked our suitcase until about Wednesday. I contacted SODC about the doctor’s statement I’d need for Michelle’s guardianship report. Then I put it on the back burner to prepare for VBS.
So I didn’t post last week, and I haven’t done The Lord’s Page for this week. I’ve just been too busy. But I do have Michelle’s legal guardianship report ready to go in the mail, thanks to SODC, who was very prompt in sending me the doctor’s expert evaluation statement. And next weekend I shall pick up where I left off with My Blog and The Lord’s Page. Isn’t the Lord incredibly good? He always helps us get done what needs done when it needs done. Three children in my VBS class got saved this week. That makes it all worth it.
