But the LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment. And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.
Psalm 9:7-8 KJV
One day, everyone shall stand before God’s throne. Unlike earthly judges, the Lord God Almighty is a good and righteous judge. He will judge the world fairly and uprightly, in truth and holiness. And for those who’ve placed their complete and total trust in Him, who honor Him with their obedience and faith, and who live a life that’s pleasing unto Him, they will receive mercy. But for those who come against God’s children with malice, He will judge.
Hebrews 10:30-31 says, “For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
God takes care of His children. No one harms a child of God and gets away with it.
The Bible says that God is eternal – He always was, and He always will be. Our finite minds cannot grasp eternity, but Psalm 9:7 says, “…the Lord shall endure for ever…” Therefore, the attributes of the Lord shall endure forever.
- I John 4:8 says, “…God is love.” That means the love of God will last forever.
- Psalm 100:5 says, “For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” God’s goodness, mercy, and truth are eternal, just like He is.
- I Corinthians 1:9 says, “God is faithful…” God’s faithfulness to His children will last forever.
- Psalm 145:17 says, “The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.”
Because God is “righteous in all his ways and holy in all his works,” He is just, and He will judge the world in righteousness and truth. And just like His individual attributes are eternal, so are his judgments. It’s true that God is love, but to presume upon His love is to disregard His holiness. The same Bible that says “God is love” also says “For our God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:29)
II Thessalonians 1:7-9 says, “And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.”
There is a horrendous judgment coming where God’s love and mercy toward the lost will expire. At that time, they will only experience His intense wrath. And just like God is eternal, His attributes are eternal, and the punishment for the lost is everlasting. They will be forever separated from Him in the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:15 says, “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
Is your name written in the Book of Life?
If you’re not saved, Isaiah 55:6 says, “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.” Turn to God while you’re still able.
If you are saved, what are you doing to reach the lost? Time is short.
