That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:10-11 KJV
Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is the great I AM and one day everyone will see Him for who He is: the Creator of the universe. In Matthew 28:18, Jesus said, “…All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
As believers, we recognize His majesty and glory now and have chosen to bow before our Lord on this side of eternity. We humble our hearts and confess Him as Lord when we admit we’re sinners in need of a Savior and ask Him to save us.
John 1:12-13 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
God truly blesses those who bow willingly before His Son.
Every person who is born into this world will one day bow their knee to Christ Jesus. To “bow the knee” means to drop to your knees in reverence or worship. God allows us the opportunity to bow before Christ willingly. And all who do so are adopted into His family, and their names are written in the Book of Life. But those who refuse to yield to the Son of God will eventually face Him in judgment, at which time they will be forced to bow before Him.
Too many people claim to love God while rejecting His Son. Yet Jesus said in John 14:6 “…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” He is the Way to God; He is the Truth of God; and He is the Life from God. And everyone coming to God must go through Christ. We will all bow to Him.
John 5:22-23 says, “For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father…”
So for those people who claim to love God while rejecting Jesus, know that one day they will face Christ in judgment and their knee will bow to Him. But by then it will be too late.
Revelation 20:15 says, “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
