“For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
John 5:22-24 KJV
Jesus didn’t come of his own accord.
I John 4:14 says, “And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.”
Without a doubt, God sent His Son to save us. Therefore, everyone who hears the words of Christ and believes that God sent Him has everlasting life. The word “has” is present tense. That means you have eternal life the moment you believe, and in that instant you pass from death unto life.
People love to talk about God – just don’t talk to them about His Son, Jesus. Yet, Jesus said that God has committed all judgment unto His Son (vs. 22) because He intends “That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father.”
If you refuse to honor Jesus, God’s only Son, you can’t honor God, the Father. “He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.” That’s why, in verse 24, Jesus said,
- “…He that heareth my word…” To hear means to listen and take heed.
- “…and believeth on him that sent me…” or acknowledge that God sent Jesus into the world to save us.
- “…hath everlasting life…”
Without Jesus there is no life. You may believe in God, but you don’t honor Him unless you honor His Son. And you can’t receive everlasting life unless you believe that God sent His Son into the world to save us..
Do you know the Savior? Do you have everlasting life?
