“Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
I Timothy 2:4 KJV
The truth of salvation is found in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
II Corinthians 4:6 says, “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
God doesn’t want anyone to miss His great salvation. But mankind lives in darkness, so God commanded the light to shine on the knowledge of His glory, which is the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, Christ illuminates the way to God.
In John 8:12, Jesus said, “…I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
That’s the Light that shines in the hearts of God’s children, and it only comes through the knowledge of His truth.
Truth is absolute, and it is revealed only through the knowledge of God, so without the knowledge of God, one won’t recognize truth. On door-to-door visitation, I’ve met many people who claim to believe in God, but get hostile at the name of Jesus. Yet, Jesus said in John 15:23, “He that hateth me hateth my Father also.”
The truth of God’s Word reveals the Light of salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6, “…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
He is the Truth, and for one to come unto God, they must come through Christ and the knowledge of the truth of God’s Word.
I John 4:6 says, “We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.”
The knowledge of truth comes only through God’s Word, and anyone who knows God recognizes the truth.
