If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
John 15:7 KJV
God loves you tremendously, and He desires to give you good things. That’s why He says that whatever you ask, you shall receive.
Matthew 7:7-8, & 11 says, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened…If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”
God wants to give His children the very best, and there is nothing He desires more than to fill you with His Holy Spirit. That happens when you abide in Christ and His Words abide in you.
I John 4:13 says, “Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.”
Then, and only then, do you really know what to pray for. And when you ask God for all the right things, He will give you everything you ask for.
The key to answered prayer is asking for those things that God wants you to have. When you abide in Christ and His words abide in you, God will put in your heart what you need to ask for. And when you ask for those things, He will give them to you. But how do you know if you’re abiding in Christ?
Do you believe in Jesus, and are you keeping His commandments?
I John 3:23-24 says, “And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.”
If you obey Jesus by keeping His commandments, then Christ dwells in you, and you dwell in Christ.
Do you love Jesus and keep His words?
In John 14:23, Jesus said, “…If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”
Then both God the Father and God the Son will move into your heart and life.
Do you love other believers? I John 4:12 says, “No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.”
So to abide in Christ, you must obey His commandments and keep His word. There-fore, Jesus said in John 15:7 “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”
