For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace…
I Corinthians 14:33 KJV
God is good, and He gives His children good things.
Psalm 84:11 says, “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
Confusion is a state of disorder, but we serve a God of order. Creation was done in order. The government, the church, the home – all were sanctioned by God, and all were given a certain order.
That’s why I Corinthians 14:40 says, “Let all things be done decently and in order.”
We can see God’s order and control all around us. Without it, the entire world would be in a continual state of confusion.
Sometimes we live in a chaotic world. As a believer who seems driven to know “the will of God,” it’s so easy to find yourself sitting at a crossroad in life, pondering on the pathway which branches off in three different directions, and wondering why you have no clear direction from God. Do you look for a flashing neon arrow that says “This Way!”
And although God doesn’t send a fluorescent sign to direct your path, he doesn’t leave you without direction. He provides you with a little tiny arrow that points you down the right path, but you have to search for it. Searching for it causes you to diligently seek the Lord.
Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
If you diligently seek God’s direction, He’ll guide you every step of the way.
He guides you through His word. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105) God’s word will guide you each step of the way.
He guides you through His Holy Spirit in a still small voice. “And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.” (I Kings 19:12) If you listen carefully, you’ll hear Him speak to your heart.
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8)
The confusion you feel is not from God. God gives us peace and direction through His Holy Spirit. He is not the author of confusion.
