“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Hebrews 11:6 KJV
Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” We can’t see God, but we can see the results of His power. We can’t touch God, but He’s always there. Without faith, a person can’t even get saved.
“…for he that cometh to God must believe that he is…” That He is what? That He is God Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth, the Great I Am. God describes Himself in His Word and since He can’t lie, everything He says is true. Therefore, He expects us to believe Him. To not believe God is to accuse Him of doing something He’s incapable of doing, which is lying. That’s why our faith pleases God so much; we can neither see nor touch Him, but we believe anyway.
“…and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” God rewards those who seek after Him with all their heart because their faith pleases God tremendously.
God’s righteousness is manifested through our faith. Romans 1:17 says, “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
In I Timothy 6:12, we’re told to, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” It’s so important to develop strong faith that God calls it a “good fight” and instructs us to “lay hold on eternal life whereunto thou art also called…” Without faith, we cannot lay hold on eternal life.
Are you saved? If you are, you have been given a small measure of faith. And just like a tiny embryo can grow into a six foot tall, 175 pound man, your small measure of faith has the ability to grow into a great faith that pleases God.
How do you grow your faith? By being obedient to God’s Word. And you can’t be obedient to God’s Word if you don’t know what it says. Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
There’s nothing that pleases God more than our faith in Him; to trust Him with our substance, our decisions, our children, our lives, our future, our eternity. And without faith, we cannot please Him at all. Why not? Because Romans 14:23 says, “…for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.”
Faith gives us victory over the world. I John 5:4 tells us, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”
